Science Birthday 2

Luke 2:52 Christmas

My sweet mother-in- law came up with this brilliant and meaningful idea for Christmas. In order to keep the focus on what really matters, she based all her gifts on Luke 2:52.
"And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." Therefore each one of us received 4 gifts. Below is a what was given to my 2 year old.
WISDOM- Puzzles and books.
STATURE- clothes for his fast growing body!
FAVOR WITH GOD- an age appropriate collection of Bible devotionals and books.
FAVOR WITH MAN- Toys that he could use to play with friends.

I just loved how thoughtful and meaningful this approach to Christmas gifts was!

For us older folks, we received gifts based on the same thing. Wisdom was a gift to help us in our own trade (for example my bachelor brothers-in-law received cookbooks and giftcards to a high-end grocery store).  Stature was also clothes. Favor with God was devotional books and Favor with Man was anything FUN we could enjoy with others.

Hope you can use this idea for your gifts in the future!

Blessings!!

Grateful for Grandma

On Wednesday, February 11, 2015 Grandma Fitzgerald (101 years old) was welcomed at the feet of Jesus. I have no doubt that He said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Words cannot express how thankful I am for her life and example. If only I could be more like Grandma...
She was quite a woman- both quick-witted and a true spitfire. Always doing what she had to do because it needed to be done. From her humble and generous hands she gave away all that she could, made items for all who were in need, and shared a smile and a laugh with all she came into contact with. With the same hands Grandma would slap you for misbehaving and then hug you for obeying. Her genuine love for all and contagious smile made her irresistible and unforgettable. What a blessing it is to experience first hand her legacy!
