Prayer

In light of the recent tragedies that have rocked our world, I am encouraged and slightly saddened by the frequent use of the word "prayer".
It is encouraging to see many Facebook posts and hashtags asking people to pray for Boston and West. There is no doubt an outpouring of prayer and mindful thought. The issue that saddens me is the fact that so many -and at times, I am included in this- read or say they are praying but have not stopped to take the time to pray.
Prayer is communicating with God, by way of the Holy Spirit. Therefore a reverent relationship is needed for prayer, not just vocalizing words. We must know who we are crying out to.
Therefore in a world in which commitments are easily made and easily broken, just remember when we say we'll pray for something we must actually seek The Lord. Imagine what God can and will do then :)
